Application of Singapore passport 

Singaporeans in need of a Singapore International Passport (SIP) are strongly encouraged to submit their passport application online via ICA's e-Service, using SingPass. Singaporeans may request to collect the passport at the Consulate-General in Xiamen.

Alternatively, Singaporeans who have issues with SingPass may also submit a manual SIP application at the Consulate-General.

The Consulate-General does not process the application for a new passport but will assist to forward the application to the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) for processing.

Eligibility

You may apply for a passport if:

  • It is your first time applying for a passport

  • Your passport is running out of pages

  • Your passport has expired, or is expiring in nine months or less

  • Your passport is lost or damaged

With effect from 1 Oct 2021, all Singapore International Passports will be valid for 10 years (with the exception of minors under the age of 16). 

Application procedure

(If applied through the Consulate-General)

The applicant is required to complete an application form (PDF form here) and attach one recent passport-sized colour photograph to the application form. The photograph must be 35mm wide by 45mm high and taken on a white background. Please refer to Photo Guidelines for ICA's photo requirements.

Please make an appointment before visiting the Consulate-General.

Processing time 

  • For applications submitted online: 1 to 2 weeks

  • For applications submitted through the Consulate-General: 4 to 6 weeks

Note: The processing time will be longer if your photograph does not meet the requirements or if your application involves changes to your principal name and/or surname.

You will be notified of the outcome by email. Please check your email. 

ICA will email you when the passport application has been approved. This email does not mean the passport has arrived at the Consulate-General and is ready for collection. It typically takes 2 weeks after approval for the passports to reach the Consulate-General. Please await our notification before making an appointment for passport collection.

Fees

  • S$70 for applications submitted online

  • RMB 427 (S$80 equivalent) for applications submitted through the Consulate-General 

Collection procedure

The Consulate-General will inform you that your passport is ready to be collected after we have received the passport from ICA. 

Please make an appointment to collect your passport before visiting the Consulate-General.
